This project was a top-to-bottom transformation of a Poconos home that had plenty of potential but lacked warmth, structure, and modern functionality. The clients loved the forest setting and the privacy of the property, but the house itself felt outdated, closed off, and underutilized. The layout needed flow, the finishes needed modernizing, and both the indoor and outdoor areas lacked intentionality. What began as a conversation about improving the deck evolved into a full interior and exterior redesign that completely redefined the home.

Living Room - Turning a Dim, Sparse Space into a Warm, Centered Gathering Room

The original living room was open but visually empty, with dark curtains and a layout that didn’t support conversation or comfort. The redesign focused on creating balance and adding architectural character. Recessed lighting brightened the entire space. Soft, neutral drapes replaced the heavy dark ones, bringing in natural light and softening the room. A new seating arrangement grounded the space, turning the fireplace and media wall into a true focal point. Built-in shelving added warmth, storage, and a personal touch with books and family photos. The result is a cozy, layered space that now feels like the emotional heart of the home.

Kitchen - A Full Gut and a Wall Removal for an Open, Functional Layout

The kitchen renovation required starting from scratch. The original layout was boxed in by a wall that interrupted the flow between rooms. Removing that wall was a game-changer, instantly opening the entire main floor. With the space gutted to the studs, we re-imagined the kitchen around function: the island was precisely placed to support movement and daily use, and appliance placement was carefully planned to create a seamless workflow. New cabinetry, modern finishes, upgraded lighting, and a brighter palette turned the kitchen into a natural gathering place for the family.

Bedrooms + Master Bathroom - Calm, Comfort, and Personalization

Each bedroom was reworked to feel comfortable and cleaner in design. Updated flooring, lighter wall colors, and intentional lighting created calming retreats for every family member. The master bathroom underwent one of the most dramatic changes, evolving from a dated, cramped layout into a spa-inspired suite with a larger walk-in shower, better lighting, and modern finishes. The upstairs now offers a sense of calm and organization that the original home never had.

Interior Flow + Cohesion

Across every level, the renovation focused on creating visual consistency with warm neutrals, layered textures, and clean lines. Furniture placement, lighting, and color were used to connect the rooms so that the home now feels cohesive rather than segmented.

Deck + Hot Tub Area - A New Multi-Level Outdoor Escape

The exterior transformation was just as extensive. The old deck lacked structure and didn’t take advantage of the wooded surroundings. The new design includes a rebuilt main deck, a dedicated sunken platform for the hot tub, and updated railings for safety and style. The hot tub area became its own intimate retreat rather than an afterthought, with clean lines and a safer, more intentional layout.

Hillside Stairway + Upper Seating Nook

What was once an inaccessible hillside became a whole new outdoor living zone. A custom staircase leads from the deck to an elevated nook overlooking the yard. Adirondack chairs provide a quiet perch for morning coffee, reading, or gathering with friends. This transformed the backyard from a single-level deck into a multi-layered experience.

A Home Rebuilt for How the Family Lives

The completed project marries comfort, function, and warmth. The interiors now feel polished and inviting, and the exterior spaces expand the livable footprint of the property dramatically. Every room, every vantage point, and every surface was considered with the family’s routines in mind. The result is a home where every space now has purpose and personality, and where the beauty of the Poconos is part of the daily experience.
